Yeah, but to be fair, it's Troy Glaus.

Playing Glaus at SS is like playing Giambi at... 1B?

The HACKINGMASS Allstars select Bob Wickman, CL, Atlanta Braves. Just to make Steve happy.

Looking at ESPN, there are a couple issues:

1) Games played, as mentioned before by Steve.

2) No K/BB option in the stats.

This is a pretty big issue, since we've already been keeping and drafting with this in mind.

(Also no '2B+3B' option, sorry Jabar)

I've created a dummy league and looked around. It seems like, if anything, ESPN edited their game to make the interface more like Yahoo's. The main team page especially is now EXACTLY like Yahoo's.

Two cool things they have is the ability to customize your team logo, and the ability to award "trophies", literally tiny graphical trophies that you can display on your page.

Yahoo's leagues come out tomorrow. I am leaning towards staying with them, since they have logs of all our old teams and standings, and especially since we would have to alter the league rules to switch over.

If Google did fantasy I bet it would be awesome.

I agree with Franky. I'm sad that Lugo just went. I'm happy that I won't have to root for a Red Sox player.

If there's no 2b+3b then I'm for staying with Yahoo!. That's the whole reason I wanted to move, I thought ESPN had it.

No one is taking closers because there aren't many situations that are cut and dry. It's hard to pick a closer in February when Spring Training hasn't even started and half the MLB teams are unsure about who will be their 9th inning man....

Besides, SPs have a lot more value anyway...

Back to the ESPN thing (until Dan starts a new thread for it), they have some interesting stats and fielder combinations. Yes we'd lose K/BB, but we could replace that with K/9. I also like BAA, and some of the additional SB stats (even with my lack of speed this year). The fielding stats are nice as well, like Outfield Assists, which someone mentioned earlier.

Oh yeah, and in terms of the games played thing, the league manager has full control over player eligibility via games played this and last season(although these can be set only once, when the league is setup). And they have keeper ability. And:

"Live Scoring: Fantasy Baseball is offering Live-Scoring free of charge to free and premium teams. The live-scoring is displayed from your standings and Clubhouse pages.
Note: Fielding Statistics are not included in our Live-Scoring package. "

So we wouldn't have to pay for stattracking ability.

SB stats: I would be for SB minus CS, which ESPN calls "SBN", net stolen bases.

Fielding stats: No.

K/9: We already use both components of this (strikeouts and innings)

Anyway, the point is, we can't change the rules for this coming season. It would have to be for next season.

And Steve you are wrong, the Commissioner does not have control over games played eligibility. It is set at 20 and not alterable.

"Eligibility - GP Last Season
For FLB 2007 this setting is fixed to 20 games played last year and can not be changed. This means any player who accumulated at least 20 games played at a position last season (2006) is eligible for it this season (2007). In future versions of the game this option will be customizable."

The thing to remember about all these categories is that each new one is just as important as home runs, WHIP, and OBP. Keep adding, and you move away from having a good fantasy team resemble a good real team.
